Trove Thoughts

Looking through old bikes on Craigslist this morning to see whats gone on sale over the hibernating months of winter.. And look what I found!

A 1975 XS 650 Yamaha, A great BUY to keep as is or to convert to a bad ass bobber!! Your choice, eIther way you look at it this bike is amazing. To boot, its the closest any Japanese motorcycle manufacturer ever came to matching the performance, handling and good looks of the British, paralell twins. The ad goes onto to say that this bike somehow, survived and is still in complete and original, mechanical and cosmetic condition with electric start and Borranni style alloy wheels.  The bike has clear title and needs nothing and is ready to ride. $3,900 Takes her home…. I was on a similar hunt about a year ago and came across many bikes like this, although I agree, from the looks and sounds it seems like a gem. On the other hand, these bikes tend to have less-than-ideal carb situations. From sitting, lugging, high mileage and so forth. So while it is easy to be swayed, in my opinion, watch out for that. I ended up with a ’77 Yamaha xs 400. One owner, low mileage and plenty of little kinks to work out. Good luck though!

  2. Hey Venessa, Thank you for the reply.
Your so right a lot of these people that are letting go of so called GEMS are most likely eliminating a little headache! I feel if you are on a hunt for a good BIKE and are not to familiar with the mechanics of the engine it may be a good idea to bring someone along with you who may be.
With that said – It’s 50 degrees and and Jan 18.. WEIRD? Go ride.. HAHAHA Happy New year..
